Three pop-punk acts, all formed in 1997, walk into a 5,000-capacity Houston room. The Up Up Down Down Tour isn’t a riddle — it’s exactly what you’d expect: if you grew up with Ocean Avenue, “My Friends Over You,” or “Hey There Delilah,” you already know whether you’re going.
Yellowcard headlines at 713 Music Hall on Thursday, June 4, with New Found Glory and Plain White T’s on the bill. Ryan Key said it directly in the tour announcement: “Ocean Avenue, My Friends Over You, AND Hey There Delilah at the same show?!” He knows exactly what he’s selling — but this nostalgia package comes with a new record.
That’s Better Days, Yellowcard’s 2025 comeback LP on Better Noise Music, produced by Travis Barker (blink-182), who plays drums on every track. It debuted at #1 on the Alt Rock chart and features Avril Lavigne on “You Broke Me Too” and Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio on “Love Letters Lost.” Key on the process: “I started the record as one version of myself and came out the other side changed.”
Yellowcard formed in Jacksonville in 1997 and broke through with Ocean Avenue (2003, certified 2x platinum by the RIAA) — a record partly defined by the violin, a core instrument since day one and the thing that separates them from the pack. They called it quits in 2016, the same day they released their self-titled final album, reunited in 2022, and have been running hard since: a fall 2025 tour with A Day to Remember, a When We Were Young Festival appearance, and now this.
New Found Glory — Coral Springs, Florida, also 1997 — are legitimate pop-punk architects. Sticks and Stones (2002) went platinum with Mark Hoppus producing; their 2026 release Listen Up is the latest entry. Plain White T’s bring frontman Tom Higgenson and “Hey There Delilah,” which sat at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2007. Houston is a mid-tour stop on a 24-city run.
