Thee Sacred Souls brings The Constellation Tour to 713 Music Hall on September 11, with a bill that reads like someone at Daptone Records dealt every card from their hand at once. The San Diego soul trio headlines; The Womack Sisters—granddaughters of Sam Cooke, nieces of Bobby Womack, daughters of Womack & Womack—open the show weeks after their Daptone debut lands. LA LOM fills out the card. Three acts, one shared thread: the deep, unhurried soul that doesn’t need to announce itself.
About Thee Sacred Souls
Thee Sacred Souls formed in San Diego in 2019 when bassist Salvador Samano and drummer Alejandro Garcia recruited singer Josh Lane via Instagram and built something from there. The name nods to Thee Midniters, the Chicano rock outfit from East LA—and that lineage is deliberate. The band draws from Chicano soul, gospel, doo-wop, and Latin R&B, traditions that share deep root tissue with the Texas rhythm and blues Don Robey was pressing at Duke and Peacock Records in Houston two generations back.
Their self-titled debut arrived on Daptone in 2022. Got A Story To Tell followed in 2024, produced by Daptone co-founder Gabriel Roth at Penrose Recorders in Riverside. Eight million monthly Spotify listeners. Beyoncé, SZA, and Alicia Keys in the documented fan column. “Lucid Girl,” “On My Mind,” and “My Heart Is Drowning” are the tracks to know before September.
The Supporting Bill
The Womack Sisters—BG, Zeimani, and Kucha—carry a legacy that doesn’t require footnotes in a soul room. Sam Cooke’s granddaughters. Bobby Womack’s nieces. Daughters of Womack & Womack. Their debut on Daptone, produced by Gabriel Roth, arrives August 14, four weeks before this show. This tour is their introduction.
LA LOM (The Los Angeles League of Musicians)—guitarist Zac Sokolow, bassist Jake Faulkner, percussionist Nicholas Baker—started in 2019 with a residency in the Roosevelt Hotel lobby in Hollywood. Their 2024 Verve Records debut blends cumbia, bolero, rockabilly, and soul; NPR and the LA Times noticed. They’ve toured with Vampire Weekend. On a bill this loaded with vocal power, an instrumental act between sets earns its place.
