It is a strange neighborhood for a Nashville comic who works in the vernacular of ordinary life, but the numbers made the case: 1.2 million tickets in a single year, more than twenty venue records broken, and a Billboard record for the biggest one-year gross by a comedy performer ever posted in that category. The Big Dumb Eyes World Tour takes its name from Bargatze’s debut book, Big Dumb Eyes: Stories From A Simpler Mind, published through Grand Central/Hachette and a No. 1 New York Times bestseller. Toyota Center, at 1510 Polk Street in downtown Houston, is an 18,043-seat arena and one of the premier large-format entertainment venues in the Gulf Coast region — the room in this city equipped to host a production at world-tour scale.
