Morrissey at 713 Music Hall | November 1, 2026

Make-Up Is a Lie is Morrissey’s 14th solo album — fourteenth, for someone who once fronted a band that released four and somehow defined a generation with them. Record Collector’s March 2026 review called it “about as strong a Morrissey album as anyone might expect right now” — a sentence that works as both a compliment and an honest accounting of where he sits in his own catalog. He has been running the record through European amphitheaters since June; the North American leg arrives at 713 Music Hall on Sunday, November 1 at 8:20 p.m.

About the Show

The Make-Up Is a Lie Tour is the road chapter for an album with a genuinely circuitous backstory. It arrived in March 2026 on Sire Records, produced by Joe Chiccarelli with a band that includes Alain Whyte (a longtime Morrissey collaborator), Camila Grey, Carmen Vandenberg, Juan Galeano, and Gustavo Manzur. The record opens with “You’re Right, It’s Time” and moves through standouts “The Night Pop Dropped,” “Lester Bangs,” and “Many Icebergs Ago,” with a Roxy Music cover (“Amazona”) that Record Collector found less convincing than the rest. Make-Up Is a Lie arrived alongside a shadow companion, Bonfire of Teenagers (which drew press around a Morrissey/Miley Cyrus collaboration before label disputes put it on hold), making this the album that actually reached shelves. A June 2026 deluxe release, the Notre-Dame EP, added three tracks: “Notre-Dame (Orchestrated Version),” “Hello Hell,” and “Happy New Tears.”

Morrissey’s solo catalog runs back to 1988’s Viva Hate, following the 1987 breakup of the Smiths, who put four studio albums on the UK charts in as many years, every one at number one or two. His 1994 record Vauxhall and I is one he has called “the best record I’ve ever made.” The US leg opened with a four-night Las Vegas residency at the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas in August. The Houston date falls three days after a Fort Worth stop at Dickies Arena on October 29; no supporting act has been announced. The tour was booked months after a March 2026 cancellation attributed to sleep deprivation from hotel noise — worth knowing that Consequence has documented more than 200 Morrissey concerts canceled or postponed since 2012, a number that tends to surface in ticket-buying conversations.

Venue & Logistics

713 Music Hall is at 401 Franklin St in downtown Houston, an A-list room that fits the scale Morrissey is working at on this fall leg.
