The live comedy tradition has always run on a tension that Kevin Langue has figured out how to weaponize: the gap between what people say about themselves and what is actually true. Long before TikTok, the panel game shows of the 1950s — What’s My Line?, To Tell the Truth — built entire television careers on that same fundamental human intrigue. Langue, thirty-two years old and born in Paris to Senegalese parents, has carried that format into the digital era and built something substantial with it: 2.7 million TikTok followers, 2.4 million YouTube subscribers, a Live Nation touring deal, and a 16-city run called The Kevin Langue Show Live that arrives at 713 Music Hall in Houston on Friday, June 12 at 7:30 PM.

About Kevin Langue

The format is deceptively simple. Langue and a panel of guests face a lineup of strangers drawn from the audience. Someone is telling the truth. Someone is lying. The panel has to figure out which is which. What makes it work — and what has made it translate from a phone screen to a theater-scale room — is that the game is never really about the lie. It is about the assumptions people make on the way to guessing: identity, bias, first impressions, the stories we construct from a stranger’s face before they have said a word. In Langue’s hands, that becomes comedy and social commentary simultaneously, fast-paced and built, as the show bills itself, to spark curiosity and debate.

He came to this through an unlikely route. Born in Paris to Senegalese parents — his father worked for the United Nations and World Bank — he spent his adolescent years in Harare, Zimbabwe before the family relocated to Wheeling, West Virginia, where he finished school and went on to study marketing at West Virginia University, graduating in 2015. That’s a biography that cuts across continents and cultures in ways that probably inform what the guessing-game show is actually about. Before the social media career took hold, he had already won Best Picture twice at Campus Moviefest — the 2013 short The B Team and 2014’s Au Milieu — earning invitations to the Cannes Film Festival, and was doing production work on Netflix’s Bright and 13 Reasons Why and ABC’s Notorious. He built his first online audience on Vine, moved to YouTube sketch comedy and vlogs, then found viral scale on TikTok. The 16-city Live Nation tour, running from May 29 to June 27, is the next step in that progression.

About 713 Music Hall

713 Music Hall opened in October 2021 inside the POST Houston complex — a repurposed former Barbara Jordan Post Office in downtown Houston at 401 Franklin Street — and has established itself quickly as Live Nation’s preferred mid-size touring stop in the city, a 5,000-capacity room that has drawn headliners across hip-hop, pop, rock, Latin, and now comedy. The Houston date falls one night before Langue’s Dallas stop at Winspear Opera House and two nights before Austin at ACL Live at the Moody Theater: three Texas nights in a row for a tour that reads like a proper Texas run embedded inside a national slate.
