There is a particular kind of hip-hop artist who makes you wait — not because the work isn’t there, but because releasing it on the industry’s calendar would mean releasing it on someone else’s terms. Jermaine Cole is that artist. The Fall Off, his seventh studio album, arrived February 6, 2026, nine years after his last full world tour wrapped, and it arrives widely described as his final record — a 24-track double album that opened at number one on the Billboard 200 and carries the specific gravity of a door closing behind it. The Fall-Off Tour that follows is his first solo headline run in five years and his first complete global arena run since the 4 Your Eyez Only World Tour in 2017. He plays Toyota Center on Thursday, September 17 — two nights at Polk Street, in fact — as part of a 50-plus-date run that crosses more than fifteen countries and six continents.
About J. Cole
Born in Fayetteville, North Carolina in 1985, Cole started writing lyrics at fifteen on a beat machine his mother gave him, worked his way through St. John’s University in Queens — graduating Magna Cum Laude in communication — and spent years chasing industry connections while working as a bill collector before landing in front of Jay-Z. Roc Nation signed him in 2009, making him the label’s first artist. Three mixtapes preceded his 2011 debut, Cole World: The Sideline Story, and the catalog he built since runs to seven consecutive Billboard 200 number-ones. He co-founded Dreamville Records alongside manager Ibrahim Hamad — home to J.I.D., Ari Lennox, Bas, Cozz, and EarthGang — and launched the annual Dreamville Festival in Raleigh in 2018. The Fall Off, produced in part by The Alchemist and Boi-1da with contributions from Future, Burna Boy, Erykah Badu, and Tems, is his seventh chart-topper and, by most accounts, his closing argument.
Houston comes to this show with its own long stake in hip-hop’s ledger. The city that built the Geto Boys, UGK, and Scarface into national figures has always understood what craft over commerce looks like, and Cole’s reputation for exactly that discipline has earned him the kind of two-night stand at an arena that holds more than eighteen thousand people.
