Ilana Glazer started with a web series in 2009 — low-budget videos made with Abbi Jacobson, shot in New York and uploaded into the void. Within five years that series had become Broad City on Comedy Central, Amy Poehler had co-signed the enterprise, and American comedy had a show that felt, to a generation of viewers, like their actual lives being reflected back without apology. Glazer brings their fifth stand-up tour, Ilana Glazer Live!, to 713 Music Hall in Houston on Tuesday, June 23 at 7:00 PM, and the material — by their own account — is entirely new.
About Ilana Glazer
Glazer (they/she) grew up on Long Island, trained at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York, and built a career that resists easy summary. Broad City ran five seasons on Comedy Central from 2014 through 2019, earning Writers Guild of America nominations and Critics’ Choice recognition, and established Glazer as a comedian whose sensibility — sharp social observation, surreal silliness, and the deeply personal pressed up against the political — caught something the culture hadn’t quite named yet.
The stand-up catalog has run alongside and independent of the television work. The first special, The Planet Is Burning, arrived on Prime Video in 2020. The second, Human Magic, landed on Hulu in December 2024, built from a 52-show, 48-city tour and covering pregnancy, parenthood, and the distance between who you were at seventeen and who you ended up — the kind of material that only lands when a comedian has actually lived through something and taken the time to find the laughs inside it.
In 2025, Glazer made their Broadway debut in a stage adaptation of Good Night, & Good Luck alongside George Clooney — a limited run that quietly widened the picture of what kind of performer they are. The comedy and socio-political podcast IT’S OPEN with Ilana Glazer drops new episodes each Thursday on YouTube, extending the conversation between tours.
The Live! tour spans 27 cities across North America and Europe. Houston slots between Columbus, Ohio on June 17 and New Orleans on June 24 — a Gulf Coast run through which audiences will encounter material that is both road-tested and still finding its shape.
