Foster the People at 713 Music Hall | October 17, 2026

When Foster the People described the Coachella show they built for this tour as “a 1950s-inspired utopia that slowly unravels into a psychedelic dream,” they were being more candid than usual about what they’re trying to pull off. Paradise State of Mind, the band’s first album in seven years, landed in 2024 swapping the indie-pop framework that made Torches a phenomenon for funk, disco, R&B, and gospel. The Good Mourning Sunshine tour is the road show built to translate it.

About the Show

Foster the People play 713 Music Hall on Saturday, October 17, as part of a 30-city North American run that launched in Phoenix in September and closes October 23 in Los Angeles. The Houston stop is the center of three consecutive Texas dates: Austin (October 16, Moody Amphitheater at Waterloo Park) comes first, Irving (October 18, The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory) follows.

Torches (2011), featuring “Pumped Up Kicks” and backed by a Grammy nomination, made Foster the People one of the more ubiquitous acts of that indie-pop moment. Supermodel (2014) and Sacred Hearts Club (2017) followed; then seven years passed before Paradise State of Mind arrived in 2024. The new record pulls from late-70s and early 80s funk, disco, R&B, and gospel — the most explicit stylistic departure of the four — and still landed as their third Top 10 on Billboard’s Album Sales chart. The Good Mourning Sunshine tour follows a sold-out 2025 global run that included the Coachella debut of the new show’s staging.

Goth Babe opens on select dates. Griff Washburn built the project around a specific outdoor-centric identity: he lives on a 36-foot off-grid sailboat, channels proceeds toward environmental nonprofits through his music, and between tour legs splits his time between fly fishing, surfing, and snowboarding. It’s an unusual fit for an amphitheater run at this scale, and either a mark of his growing profile or a signal that this tour is curated more deliberately than most. The Beaches, a Toronto band with five Juno Awards and a platinum-certified single (“Blame Brett,” now past 132 million global streams), joins on select dates as well.
