Edith Márquez at Aztec Theatre | August 30, 2026

Edith Márquez arrives in San Antonio having already burned through McAllen and Houston on back-to-back nights. By the time she takes the Aztec Theatre stage on August 30, the Texas leg of the Eterna e Inolvidable tour will be nearly done — and anyone who’s followed her knows that is not a phrase that describes her voice.

Márquez is a dramatic mezzo-soprano. She’s been one since she joined Timbiriche in 1987 at fourteen, and whatever the years have added, the range hasn’t gone anywhere. Her industry title — Reina de las Baladas, the Queen of the Ballads — earned its keep. Eight Lunas del Auditorio nominations over a solo career that launched in 1998 will do that.

But this tour is not a greatest-hits run. Eterna e Inolvidable, released August 2025, is her tribute to Rocío Durcal — the Spanish-born singer who made ranchera her own and whose catalog is as close to sacred as Mexican popular music gets. Márquez met Durcal the day she received her first gold record. “After 25 years since that moment,” she has said, “paying this tribute with respect and love is something very important to me.” She means it. Producer Kiko Cibrián — who also helmed recordings with Durcal herself — shaped the album as reinterpretation, not tribute-by-xerox. The ten tracks include “Amor Eterno,” “Costumbres,” “Me Nace del Corazón,” and “La Muerte del Palomo.” The lead single, “Déjame Vivir” — “Let Me Live” — pairs her with regional Mexican artist Adriel Favela, reviving the classic Durcal–Juan Gabriel duet.

By February 2026, the tour had already filled Mexico City’s Auditorio Nacional six nights. San Antonio is not an afterthought stop.

The Venue

The Aztec Theatre, at 104 N. St. Mary’s St. in downtown San Antonio, holds 1,477. It is a theater-format room — sightlines point-blank, sound shaped for a singer, not scattered across a warehouse floor. This is exactly the right room for a show that lives in the detail of a voice.
