Club 90s isn’t a band. That’s the first thing to understand when you see MJ Night on the calendar at House of Blues Houston — a 1,800-capacity room that usually books touring artists, not dance nights. What Jeffrey Lyman built out of Los Angeles in 2014 is an event company, but one that has quietly outgrown the description. On Friday, September 11, it comes to Houston.

The format: DJ-led, with official Michael Jackson music videos and deep cuts projected onstage, running for several hours, somewhere between a concert and a club night. Standing room. 18 and up. Doors at 8:30 PM.
MJ Night is one of several themed nights Club 90s produces — alongside 2000s Night, BTS & K-Pop Night, and others — but it’s among the most-toured. Sixteen dates are scheduled across the U.S. in 2026, routing through Dallas, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York City, Chicago, and a dozen more cities before landing in Houston on September 11.
The numbers tell you this isn’t a niche operation anymore. Taylor Swift, the Weeknd, and Bad Bunny have reposted scenes from Club 90s events. Chappell Roan Nights drew bigger crowds than Taylor Swift album release parties. Lyman partnered with Olivia Rodrigo’s team for official afterparties following her Madison Square Garden shows. And Lyman’s philosophy for booking DJs cuts against what you’d expect: connection over technical skill, reading the room as a participant rather than performing above it. That approach, applied to a 1,800-person House of Blues, is worth watching play out.
