Chance The Rapper brings the Coloring Book 10 Year Anniversary Tour to 713 Music Hall on Saturday, September 12. He’ll perform the album in full that night — the complete record, start to finish — then pull from across his catalog for the rest of the set. Showtime is 8:00 PM.
About Chance The Rapper
Coloring Book arrived on May 13, 2016, as an Apple Music exclusive. It became the first streaming-only project to chart on the Billboard 200, where it peaked at number eight. At the 59th Grammy Awards the following February, Chance took three: Best Rap Album, Best New Artist, and Best Rap Performance for “No Problem.” That last win made history — the first streaming-only album to win a Grammy Award.
The record is a Chicago album in its bones. It was recorded at Chicago Recording Company in early 2016 and features an interconnected Chicago scene — Saba, Noname, and Jamila Woods are in the orbit of it — alongside a guest list that stretches from Kirk Franklin and the Chicago Children’s Choir to Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Justin Bieber, Future, and Jay Electronica. The thing that held all of it together was a gospel feel: joyful and communal, a record that sounded like a Sunday and a Saturday night at the same time. Tracks like “Same Drugs,” “Summer Friends,” and “All Night” still hold.
What the anniversary tour also carries is the story of how Chance built the record: without a major label deal, on a streaming-exclusive release, as an independent artist. He won those three Grammys and reshaped what was possible without signing to anyone. The industry noticed. In 2023 he did the same kind of full-album anniversary run for his breakthrough mixtape Acid Rap — that tour worked, and this one follows the same logic. He’s also got Star Line in the catalog now, his 2025 album that peaked at number 22 on the Billboard 200, so this set will reach across the decade.
