Chad Gray at Aztec Theatre | October 10, 2026

Chad Gray is 54 years old. Mudvayne, his band of three decades, is taking 2026 off — a pre-planned break the band announced ahead of time. Gray’s response: “I’m not taking a year off. That’s like me putting my happiness in a cage for a year. That’s where I shine.” The “30 Years of Madnesss” tour is what that looks like: 28-plus North American dates running from Las Vegas in April through October, including a stop at San Antonio’s Aztec Theatre on Saturday, October 10, at 7:00 p.m.

About the Show

The tour name is stylized with a triple-s (“Madnesss”), per Gray’s own branding, and the setlist reflects the full span of his career: material from Mudvayne and from Hellyeah, the supergroup he co-founded in 2006 with the late Vinnie Paul, active through 2020. Gray has acknowledged those two fanbases don’t always overlap, which gives the combined set a specific reason to show up for fans of either band. Mudvayne, which Gray co-founded in 1996, has sold over six million records worldwide, with gold certifications on three albums. The tour launched with five April dates at Fremont Country Club in Las Vegas (all five sold out) before expanding into the full run. “The initial five shows were absolutely incredible,” Gray said. “Since the beginning, I’ve wanted to bring this to all my fans everywhere.” He’s put the mission plainly elsewhere too: “Heavy metal saved my life and each and every one of you have done the same for me.” The fall leg has included festival dates at Louder Than Life in September and Aftershock on October 2; San Antonio comes eight days later. Support on the full tour: Butcher Babies and Devil’s Cut. Gray’s backing band features Marcus Rafferty on guitar (Mudvayne’s own touring guitarist), Joe Bonasorte on second guitar, Nick Villarreal on bass, and Devin Attard on drums.
