Whitcomb grew up in Nanaimo, BC, left at 17 to work on a pipeline, and came out the other side writing songs. His 2024 debut EP Quitter addressed addiction and recovery; his 2025 debut album The Hard Way debuted at No. 1 on Canada’s Country Albums chart, earned Gold certification, and delivered two JUNO Awards: Breakthrough Artist or Group of the Year and Country Album of the Year. He also holds the Jeff Walker Global Country Artist Award from the Country Music Association and took multiple trophies at the Canadian Country Music Awards. Spotify and Amazon Music placed him on their 2025 Artist to Watch lists; he now draws 7.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify and has accumulated 835 million global streams.
The Kingdom of Fear Tour — Whitcomb’s largest US headline run to date — opens September 24 at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium and wraps October 31 at Houston’s House of Blues across 19 dates. The Deep Water EP, out April 17 on Atlantic Records, blends folk-rock and country across five tracks; critics compare the record’s scope to Mumford & Sons and Noah Kahan, pointing to its “huge, crowd-ready folk-rock arrangements” alongside “brutally honest lyricism.” “Kingdom of Fear,” his highest-charting single across the US, Australia, UK, and Canada, distills the project’s emotional core in one line: “I say I’m fine but if you look close I ain’t doing alright.” Whitcomb put his own frame on the material: “I think people are really gonna hear how much I’ve fallen back in love with songwriting.” He competed on American Idol in 2022 and returned this past May to perform “Kingdom of Fear” on the Season 24 finale, duetting with finalist Brooks Rosser. Noah Rinker opens the San Antonio date.
