Alter Bridge bring the What Lies Within Tour to San Antonio on Thursday, November 19 — the Aztec Theatre, 7 p.m., with Big Wreck and Tim Montana on the bill. This is the second U.S. leg of a tour that launched in Europe back in January, and the Aztec booking puts them in a room that runs from roughly 1,477 seated to flexible GA — a few tiers below the arena circuit. For a band this deep into the hard rock A-list, playing this size room means you can actually hear what Tremonti is doing with that guitar.
About Alter Bridge
Myles Kennedy, Mark Tremonti, Brian Marshall, and Scott Phillips have been writing together since 2004. Their eighth studio album — self-titled, out January 9, 2026 on Napalm Records, produced by Michael Baskette — was tracked at 5150 Studios in Los Angeles (Eddie Van Halen’s former studio) and Baskette’s Florida studio. Kennedy, in Guitar World: “This is a straight-ahead hard-rock record. You’re not going to have any keyboard extravaganzas on this.” Tremonti, on recording at 5150: “When you have your guitar in your hand playing in that studio, there’s no slop coming out. You’ve got to man up.”
The record debuted at number one on the UK Rock/Metal Albums chart. Live reviews from the first U.S. leg report the band drawing from five of their eight studio albums — deep catalog running alongside the new material, which is the version of this show that’s worth showing up for.
The Support
Big Wreck and Tim Montana open. Big Wreck — the Ian Thornley-led Canadian hard rock outfit with roots at Berklee College of Music going back to 1992 — released The Rest of the Story in 2025. Tim Montana plays a harder country/rock hybrid; a reviewer this year called him “a hybrid between a country superstar and hard rock heavy hitter.” Worth arriving early for both.
The Venue
The Aztec Theatre at 104 N. St. Mary’s St. is one of the more visually distinctive rooms in Texas — 1926 Meso-American revival architecture, restored as a concert house in 2013, a block from the River Walk. Capacity runs from roughly 1,477 seated to GA standing. It sits just below Majestic-scale in the San Antonio market, which makes it the right fit for a touring act that plays better in rooms where the sound has somewhere to go.
