UB40 has been doing this for nearly fifty years — “Red Red Wine,” “Food for Thought,” “Kingston Town,” the Labour of Love catalog that broke them globally in 1983. They are not a nostalgia act touring for the paycheck. Four original founding members are still in the band. They released a new studio album in 2024. Another one is coming before fall. The Unstoppable Tour 2026 hits House of Blues Houston on Sunday, November 8 at 7:00 PM, and the name is accurate.
About UB40
The band formed in Birmingham, England in December 1978 — and the name itself was working-class politics in two letters and two numbers. The UB40 was the UK government’s unemployment benefit claim form. That context didn’t stay in the bio; it shaped the music and the crowd that has followed them for decades.
Their 1980 debut Signing Off announced the band. Then came Labour of Love in 1983 — a reggae covers album that broke them beyond Birmingham. “Red Red Wine” was a Neil Diamond original, transformed into something else entirely. “(I Can’t Help) Falling in Love with You” was an Elvis Presley song, claimed and kept. “Kingston Town” is still the one that holds a room.
The current lineup is anchored by four original founding members: Robin Campbell on guitar and vocals, James Brown on drums, Earl Falconer on bass and vocals, and Norman Hassan on percussion and vocals. Matt Doyle has fronted the band since 2021, following Duncan Campbell’s retirement due to illness.
In April 2024, the band released UB45 — a 45th anniversary album of new tracks and reimagined classics that debuted at #5 on the UK charts. A new studio album is in production ahead of this tour.
“We can’t wait to embark on ‘The Unstoppable Tour,’” founding guitarist Robin Campbell said. “New music, more shows than our last visit.” Drummer James Brown added: “American audiences are the loudest in the world, and the crowd has become more and more diverse.”
The Houston date falls near the close of a 40-market North American run stretching from September 18 through November 15 — UB40’s fifth consecutive year touring this continent. VIP meet-and-greet packages are available through 237 Global.
