Adam Gontier left Three Days Grace in 2013 (health issues, no public drama) and Matt Walst stepped in for what became an 11-year chapter behind the mic. Gontier returned in 2024, and rather than sorting out who holds the lead, the band kept both of them. Alienation is the record built around that arrangement: two vocalists, two eras, and a deliberate effort to figure out what the overlap actually sounds like.
About the Show
Three Days Grace brings the Alienation Tour to The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion on Sunday, October 25, with I Prevail and The Funeral Portrait opening the night. The album Alienation (the band’s eighth, released August 22, 2025) marks the first time Gontier and Walst have shared full lead vocal duties on a record. Gontier described the approach: “We wanted to make sure on this album that we hit some of the classic vibe that the band had in earlier albums, as well as the newer stuff that Matt did.” That intent produced “Mayday” and “Apologies,” both chart-toppers on the new record, alongside singles including “Kill Me Fast” and “Don’t Wanna Go Home Tonight.”
The live set typically averages 22 songs, which leaves room for the deep catalog: “Animal I Have Become,” “I Hate Everything About You,” “Time of Dying,” and “Never Too Late” are established tour staples. The Woodlands date is an early stop on the fall North American leg, a run that opened October 23 in Biloxi and closes November 22 in Los Angeles. This is also One-X‘s anniversary year: the platinum-selling 2006 album turns 20, and a track from the band’s self-titled 2003 debut recently crossed one billion Spotify streams. Prior to this tour, the band completed sold-out co-headlining North American dates with Volbeat and Breaking Benjamin.
I Prevail brings their post-hardcore and melodic hooks to the main support slot. The Funeral Portrait, known for a dramatic and emotional sound, opens the evening.
