A self-titled album is a declaration. Artists don’t name a record after themselves when they’re still working out who they are. They do it when the question’s been answered. Kehlani dropped hers in April 2026, two Grammys already on the shelf: Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song, both for “Folded.” The album landed at No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, the first time she’d cleared that bar. The Kehlani World Tour reaches The Woodlands on September 13 as the live side of that argument.
About the Show
Kehlani has been building this case since 2014, when Cloud 19 put an Oakland teenager on the map. Grammy-nominated You Should Be Here followed in 2015, and SweetSexySavage debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 in 2017. The fifth studio album is the one that finally converted critical goodwill into hardware. Released April 24 through Atlantic Records and executive produced by Khris Riddick-Tynes, it assembled a collaborator list that reads like a census of the genre: Brandy, Usher, T-Pain, Lil Wayne, Missy Elliott, Clipse. Assembling those names isn’t branding; it’s a position statement. The album debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, the biggest first-week female R&B debut of 2026, and topped both the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Top R&B Albums charts. “Folded,” the 2x-Platinum lead single, peaked at No. 6 on the Hot 100, her first top-10 single there. Billboard named her a Women in Music 2026 Impact honoree that same year. Before the main tour launched, Kehlani played Essence Festival, the Roots Picnic, and Afro Nation. The 33-date North American run opened August 6 in Minneapolis and closes October 3 in Mountain View; The Woodlands is the first Texas stop, with Austin (September 15) and Dallas (September 16) to follow. The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion is an outdoor amphitheater in The Woodlands, north of Houston. The show starts at 6:30 p.m. The venue enforces a strict bag policy: all bags and purses (unless clear) must be smaller than 4.5″ × 6.5″; clear bags must be smaller than 12″ × 12″.
