Switchfoot announced Forever Now from Austin — at SXSW in March, which makes this November date something closer to a homecoming than a routing stop. The San Diego band plays Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater on Saturday, November 14, and the room reads right for where they are: big enough to hold the catalog, contained enough to feel intentional.
Forever Now is their fourteenth studio album and their first new material in five years. Produced by Mike Elizondo and released June 26, it’s built around a question Jon Foreman has been carrying into every interview: “How would you live if you knew that today would be your last? What would matter most?” Lead single “Wake Up, Mr. Crow” arrived in March, framed by Foreman as “an alarm clock of a song to begin one’s last day.” Second single “Absolution” followed in May — Foreman calling it “a cry of the postmodern crisis, wrestling with contradiction.” Neither sounds like a band filling time between eras.
Anberlin is confirmed as special guest for the Austin date, and that reunion has actual weight: it’s been fifteen years since these two bands shared a tour. Anberlin returned in 2024 with Vega, their first album in a decade, featuring Matty Mullins on live vocals. In March 2025 they released Nevertake, a re-recorded version of Never Take Friendship Personal. Jon Foreman specifically name-checked their former bands in the tour announcement — “Acceptance anyone?” — which tells you this isn’t a legacy booking but a genuine friendship with shared scene history behind it.
Switchfoot has spent nearly three decades earning this kind of pull: a GRAMMY for Hello Hurricane, over ten million albums sold, The Beautiful Letdown‘s triple-platinum run on the strength of “Meant to Live” and “Dare You to Move.” They’re not running out of catalog to draw from.
About the Venue
Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater sits at 801 Red River St. in downtown Austin — an outdoor stage adjacent to Waller Creek. It runs largely cashless and offers a standing pit, assigned seating, elevated box seats, and a balcony. A November night in Austin is usually good to you.
