Eddie Berg fronts Imminence from violin and mic simultaneously, not as a novelty but as a structural argument for what metalcore can do when it refuses to stay in its lane. The Swedish band has been making that argument since 2010, when Berg and guitarist Harald Barrett started building their craft in a community basement in Trelleborg. On The Black (2024), their debut on Sumerian Records and the most complete statement they’ve put to tape, the classical arrangements don’t soften the breakdowns — they amplify them, the strings pulling the music toward something almost liturgical before the guitars drag it back into the pit. Tracks like “Continuum” and “Death By A Thousand Cuts” move between haunting string passages and full breakdowns without making either feel like a compromise. Critics landed on “Violincore” as the shorthand, which is accurate as far as it goes: Berg’s violin is load-bearing, not decorative. The formula first took shape on This Is Goodbye (2017) and built its following on Turn the Light On (2019); The Black is where it becomes fully realized.
About the Show
The North America 2026 tour runs 22 cities from November 13 in Worcester through December 13 in Montreal, with Imminence headlining behind The Black and their debut Sumerian single, “The Sword That Never Bends.” The tour routes through Texas with a Dallas stop at South Side Ballroom on November 24 before landing in Austin the following night. The band describes the accompanying music video as “the first glimpse into a larger visual world the band has been building”; at this stage of their career, that’s not empty language. Imminence has operated with DIY discipline from the start, producing their own videos, booking their own tours, and founding their own company well before the Sumerian deal materialized. Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater is Austin’s Red River Street outdoor room, and an outdoor metalcore show on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving is either an act of faith in Austin audiences or an accurate read on who shows up the night before the holiday. That Imminence is playing a 2,500-cap venue in this market reflects a real trajectory: the quartet has built sold-out runs across North and South America, Australia, and Japan, and the North America 2026 headline run continues that arc.
