NE-YO at Moody Center | August 11, 2026

NE-YO and AKON are bringing their “Nights Like This Tour” to the Moody Center on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 8:00 PM — a moment to hear the songs that defined an era for the people who grew up with them.

About NE-YO

NE-YO, born Shaffer Chimere Smith and raised in Las Vegas, built his solo career on a foundation he laid first for other people. Before his 2006 debut album In My Own Words landed at number one on the Billboard 200, he was the songwriter behind tracks for Mary J. Blige, Ruben Studdard, Faith Evans, Tyrese, and Jamie Foxx. That craftsmanship — the songwriter’s eye for what moves a listener — never left him when he stepped into his own career.

“So Sick,” the album’s lead single, reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, a rare achievement for a debut single in R&B. He won a Grammy for “Because of You.” The albums that followed — Year of the Gentleman, Libra Scale, and nine studio albums deep into his catalog — kept producing singles that people grew up singing.

On the “Nights Like This Tour,” NE-YO and AKON share the stage in a back-and-forth set of hits: “So Sick,” “Closer,” “Miss Independent,” “Smack That,” “Lonely,” and “Right Now (Na Na Na).” These are the songs where the audience drives half the performance — the room is as much a part of the show as the stage.

The Moody Center

The Moody Center opened in April 2022 on the UT campus with a show from John Mayer. It’s a 15,000-seat world-class arena endowed by a $130 million grant from the Moody Foundation to the university. In a city like Austin, a venue this size hosts the kind of major touring acts that come through once or twice a year — this is where the tour arrives.
