The title of John Summit’s sophomore album is a keyboard shortcut. CTRL ESCAPE — the command you use when you want to quit whatever you’re doing and get out. For Summit, born John Walter Schuster in 1994, a former accountant from Illinois who left the spreadsheets behind to make house music full-time, it’s less metaphor than autobiography. He broke through with “Deep End” in 2020, followed it with his debut album Comfort in Chaos in 2024, and has spent the intervening years building toward something exactly like this: on Friday, November 6, the CTRL ESCAPE Arena Tour arrives at Moody Center.
About the Show
This is Summit’s first North American arena run — a 20-plus-date sweep through the U.S. and Canada from October through December 2026. Austin sits in the middle of a three-city Texas stretch alongside Houston and Fort Worth across November 5 through 7. The second album, CTRL ESCAPE, was released April 15, 2026 — Tax Day — via Summit’s Experts Only label and Darkroom Records, an event brand he launched in 2022 that has since grown into a full record label. The LP spans 13 tracks and moves deliberately beyond the tech house that made his name, incorporating drum & bass, trap, and rock elements. Collaborators include Feid, Julia Wolf, Grammy-nominated songwriter Nija, and The Chainsmokers. “This is kind of a crazy artistic journey,” Summit said. “Really try to push boundaries as best I can in electronic music. This is my life and passion, and I truly pour my soul into this.” His 2023 track “Where You Are” appeared on Barack Obama’s year-end favorites list. He has headlined EDC Las Vegas, Coachella, and Breakaway Festival, and played a nearly five-hour set at Red Rocks. He joins Illenium, Tiësto, and Kaskade in the recent wave of electronic artists graduating from festival tents to arena floors. No support act has been announced.
Venue & Logistics
Moody Center, on the University of Texas campus at 2001 Robert Dedman Drive in Austin, holds 15,000 — a room that matches the scale of Summit’s first arena headlining tour. The show is all ages, with an 18-and-older recommendation from the venue; GA Floor access is restricted to guests 21 and older. Showtime is 7 p.m.
