Thirty thousand tickets sold on the 2025 U.S. tour. Loathe doesn’t need to be introduced anymore, not in markets that count — and Austin has been counting for a while.
The Liverpool quartet arrives this fall behind A Stranger to You, their third album, due July 17 via SharpTone Records. The follow-up to I Let It In And It Took Everything — the record that quietly pulled atmospheric heavy music into wider view — the new album pushes into more disorienting territory: 14 tracks built with psychedelic textures, synthesizers, and unconventional percussion, sequenced to be consumed front-to-back rather than queued up piecemeal. Band member Erik Bickerstaffe produced, engineered, and mixed it alongside Ed Al-Shakarchi; whatever I Let It In was, this isn’t a reprint.
Lead single “Revenant” features NOWHERE2RUN — the project from Code Orange’s Jami Morgan and Eric “Shade” Balderose — and was billed as potentially the heaviest thing Loathe has cut. It opens on synthesizer before pivoting into something harder to name. First single “Gifted Every Strength” goes the other direction entirely. The record seems structured to keep you uncertain about where it’s going, which is either a warning or a selling point depending on your patience for that kind of thing.
The support is well-chosen: Fleshwater’s grungy shoegaze and Prostitute’s noise rock don’t offer easy reference points either. This isn’t a package where the opener sounds like a softer version of the headliner.
Loathe plays Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater on Sunday, October 4, with doors at 6:00 PM. Tickets are non-transferable and only resaleable at face value through Ticketmaster’s Face Value Exchange program. Tickets available at Ticketmaster.
