Hatebreed headlines the Summer Slaughter Tour 2026 at House of Blues Houston on Friday, July 10 — and whatever else is happening inside the band right now, they’re showing up for it. Bassist Chris Beattie, a constant presence through most of the band’s 30-plus-year run, recently departed. Guitarist Wayne Lozinak is on hiatus recovering from brain tumor surgery. Vocalist Jamey Jasta and drummer Matt Byrne are running the headlining slot on one of extreme metal’s longest-running annual touring packages. That’s either defiance or muscle memory. With Hatebreed, there’s never been much difference.
About Hatebreed
Formed in New Haven, Connecticut in 1994, Hatebreed built the crossover template between hardcore and heavy metal that a generation of bands has since tried to replicate. Their 2002 breakthrough Perseverance put them on the Billboard 200; The Rise of Brutality (2003) charted at #30; The Divinity of Purpose (2013) peaked at #20 — their commercial high-water mark on paper, though the band’s real currency has always been the live show. Grammy-nominated for Best Metal Performance in 2005. Over 1.5 million records sold in North America. Main stage at Ozzfest 2006. More than three decades of touring without going soft.
Now they’re building their ninth studio album — the first fully independent release of their career. Jasta has described it as “the most ignorant, heavy, caveman-esque record yet.” Drummer Matt Byrne says it goes “way thrashier and way more metal with a Slayer-esque direction.” The first single, “Make The Demons Obey,” dropped in July 2025 — five years after their last studio record. If the summer tour is running as a preview of that material, that’s probably by design.
The Venue
House of Blues Houston sits at 1204 Caroline Street in Downtown Houston — a 1,800-capacity multi-story room with staging, lighting, and sound built for high-volume touring acts. Part of Live Nation’s House of Blues chain, it handles four-band festival packages without the logistical strain that smaller clubs absorb. For a bill that kicks off at 4:00 PM and runs through four acts deep, the infrastructure matters. Check our full calendar for more Houston concerts.
Tickets & Support
Supporting on this date: Devourment — the Dallas brutal death metal veterans on Relapse Records, founded 1995, with vocalist Ruben Rosas and drummer Brad Fincher, the band’s sole original member — making this a Texas homecoming for the support slot. Snuffed on Sight, Balmora, and Face Yourself round out the bill on the full Summer Slaughter run.
Show time: 4:00 PM, Friday, July 10. Tickets available now via Ticketmaster.
