Club 90s Presents BTS Night is not a BTS concert. The group is not performing. What DJ Jeffrey Lyman has built instead — and what rolls into House of Blues Houston on Friday, July 31 — is, by his own assessment, sometimes better: “The energy is a million times crazier at these nights, sometimes, than at an actual concert.”
About the Show
The format is straightforward in concept, harder to execute well. A DJ — Lyman or one of his team — spends four hours working through BTS hits and deep cuts while official music videos and performance footage run projected throughout. The organizers describe it as “a curated musical journey through the group’s discography” covering all seven members: RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. What Lyman says separates these nights from forgettable dance events is connection over technical skill: “You could be the best, well-trained, technically amazing DJ ever…if you do not make a connection with your audience…then there’s no point in even being there.”
Lyman launched Club 90s in 2014 as a ’90s nostalgia party series, centered on acts like No Doubt, Selena Quintanilla, and the Spice Girls, before expanding into themed nights across artists and eras: K-pop raves, ’80s slasher balls, One Direction parties. The organization has since hosted official afterparties for Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts tour and ran events around Harry Styles’ 2022 Madison Square Garden residency. Taylor Swift called it out on Instagram: “THIS is what it’s all about, why I live to make music…The hope that maybe people might want to come together and feel things.” Teams representing The Weeknd, Bad Bunny, Billie Eilish, and Lady Gaga have also engaged with the brand. The events draw from younger audiences, particularly women and queer fans; attendees describe the atmosphere as welcoming and intentionally safe. As one put it: “It’s just people who want to be safe and celebrate and dance.” Dress to theme.
Houston is one of nine confirmed U.S. cities on a 30-plus-stop 2026 North American tour; Dallas, Atlanta, Chicago, and Orlando are among the earlier dates. Club 90s returns to House of Blues Houston on September 11 for an MJ Night.
