Black Flag at House of Blues Houston | November 1, 2026

Fifty years after Greg Ginn founded Black Flag in Hermosa Beach, California, the band arrives in Houston on November 1 to close out a 45-date anniversary run — and the lineup walking into the finale is the most unlikely configuration the band has had since it cycled through Henry Rollins, Dez Cadena, and Ron Reyes in the first decade.

About the Show

The current iteration, which press has taken to calling the “Gen Z” lineup, pairs the 72-year-old Ginn with vocalist Max Zanelly, bassist David Rodriguez, and drummer Bryce Weston, all in their 20s. Zanelly arrived with zero prior band experience. Ginn found her singing along at a previous show and told the press she was “the only person I could imagine doing it.” Zanelly described the decision as spontaneous and said she practiced the catalog so intensely she lost her voice on the drive home from her waitressing job. The lineup ran European dates and West Coast performances before appearing at Coachella in April 2026. This U.S. run, 45 cities spanning summer and fall, is the first coast-to-coast sweep with this iteration; it launched July 29 in Eagle Pass, Texas, and closes Sunday in Houston. The catalog spans the full run: the Nervous Breakdown EP (1978) through Damaged, My War, Slip It In, Loose Nut, and In My Head, all released through SST Records, the independent label Ginn co-founded to operate outside the major-label system. Black Flag is widely recognized as the first American hardcore band; early vocalist Keith Morris left to form the Circle Jerks, and through years of relentless nationwide touring the band helped build the independent distribution and self-booking infrastructure the American underground punk scene still draws from. The Houston date was listed as the tour terminus from the outset; additional 2027 dates in California, Washington, Oregon, and Colorado are separately confirmed in press materials.

Venue & Logistics

House of Blues Houston, 1204 Caroline St., hosts the show Sunday, November 1, at 7:00 p.m. No opener is listed. The tour was billed as a club-and-theater circuit rather than an arena run, and House of Blues fits that frame — one of the better rooms on the Houston calendar for a band where volume and proximity have always been part of the proposition.
