Dallas plays September 23 at Dos Equis Pavilion; Austin closes the stretch the very next evening at Germania Insurance Amphitheater. Three amphitheater nights back to back through one state. About BABYMETAL
The band formed in Tokyo in 2010 as a sub-unit of the idol group Sakura Gakuin — producer Key Kobayashi’s experiment in fusing J-pop aesthetics with genuine heavy metal. SU-METAL leads on vocals; MOAMETAL and MOMOMETAL handle harmonies and choreography. Live instrumentation is provided by the Kami Band, real session musicians playing real parts. That distinction carries weight in a 16,500-capacity room.
Their 2025 album METAL FORTH debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 — the first all-Japanese group to crack the top 10 of that chart — and hit No. 1 on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart. The collaborator list covers heavy music’s current landscape: Tom Morello, Spiritbox, Bloodywood, Electric Callboy, Polyphia, Slaughter to Prevail, Poppy. A deluxe edition drops June 26, 2026; the set will have fresh material to draw from by September.
The milestones tell the arc: first Japanese group to headline London’s O2 Arena in May 2025, first Japanese act to hold a one-act show at LA’s Intuit Dome in November 2025. The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion sits in The Woodlands, approximately 30 miles north of downtown Houston.
