Angine de Poitrine at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater | September 12, 2026

Last year, Angine de Poitrine played the Montreal Jazz Festival to a crowd of seventy. On September 12, the Québécois masked duo takes the Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater — a 2,500-capacity outdoor stage at the center of Levitation 2026 — for one of the more dramatic venue-size jumps any band has pulled off this cycle. A KEXP YouTube session filmed at Trans Musicales in Rennes went viral in March with over fifteen million views. That video is the whole explanation for why this show exists at this scale.

About Angine de Poitrine

The duo — Khn and Klek de Poitrine, from Saguenay, anonymous by design — arrived in international consciousness fully costumed: white-and-black polka dots, large papier-mâché masks, and a sound they describe as “Mantra-rock dada pythago-cubist.” It’s not just copy. Khn plays a double-neck microtonal guitar fretted at quarter-tone intervals, building loops in real time while Klek navigates constant time signature changes underneath — both of them having played together since they were thirteen. One reviewer put it that the duo’s whole enterprise involves “taking the piss” at extravagant rock conventions while simultaneously executing them at a high level. The joke is also dead serious.

Vol. II, released April 3 on Spectacles Bonzaï, earned a Metacritic weighted average of 84 — “universal acclaim” by the site’s own standard. The six-track record moves from the prog-to-funk arc of “Fabienk” through the psych-desert menace of “Mata Zyklek” to the heaviest thing the duo has recorded, “Yor Zarad.” Physical editions of both Vol. I (2024) and Vol. II arrive June 12.

Venue & Festival Context

Levitation 2026 runs September 10–13 and returns to its original citywide format after a year at Palmer Events Center, spreading across Red River district venues including Stubb’s, Mohawk, Hotel Vegas, Elysium, 29th St Ballroom, 13th Floor, and Radio/East as the main two-stage hub. Stubb’s outdoor is the biggest room in that cluster. The Angine de Poitrine booking tells you where the festival thinks this duo sits in the 2026 conversation. Man or Astroman? open the September 12 show. Doors at 9:30 PM.
