Wolfmother at Emo’s Austin | June 7, 2026

Wolfmother opens their 20th Anniversary Tour at Emo’s Austin on Sunday, June 7 — and the room choice tells you something about how this tour is being framed. This isn’t a seated-theater nostalgia run or a shed victory lap. It’s a club-level opening night in a 1,700-cap room off Riverside Drive, and they’re playing the whole self-titled debut front to back. That’s a deliberate call for a band that could probably book bigger, and it tells you they know exactly what this tour is supposed to feel like.

About Wolfmother

The band formed in Sydney in 2004. Andrew Stockdale — the only member who’s been there from the beginning — built something that didn’t sound like anything else getting airplay in 2005: Zeppelin-weight riffs, raw blues-rock chassis, a singer who could actually howl. The self-titled debut dropped in Australia in October 2005 and internationally in 2006, going gold in the US and five-times platinum at home. They won a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance for “Woman,” and for a stretch in 2006–2007 Wolfmother was the band you played when you were trying to explain to someone what classic rock felt like when it was still urgent.

Twenty years later, Stockdale’s current lineup — bassist James Wassenaar and drummer Christian Condon — will perform that album in full each night of the run. “Woman,” “Joker & the Thief,” “White Unicorn,” “Dimension,” “California Queen,” “Colossal” — all of it, sequenced. Austin is night one of 23 dates that stretch through July 12.

About Emo’s Austin

Emo’s has been a working club since 1992, when it opened on Red River. The current location at 2015 E Riverside Dr. is a Live Nation house — 1,700 capacity, three bars, a reserved ADA section, and a room with enough volume history to handle a hard rock crowd that shows up knowing every word. It’s the right size for this show: not so small it feels like a stunt, not so large the occasion gets lost in the rafters. Opening a 23-date North American run here, on a Sunday night in early June, reads as Wolfmother treating Austin like a genuine first-night market — not a warmup slot.
