The Red Clay Strays at Frost Bank Center | September 20, 2026

The Red Clay Strays have been working this country for a decade — a Mobile, Alabama five-piece that built its following the old way, sweating through club dates on the Gulf Coast and up through the mid-South before a major label had weighed in on the matter. Their debut record, Moment of Truth, came out in 2022 on money they crowdfunded from fans who had already decided. When the single “Wondering Why” found its way to TikTok in late 2023 and climbed to the Billboard Hot 100, the wider audience was catching up to a verdict the road had already rendered. The CMA Vocal Group of the Year win in 2025 was Nashville making it official. They bring The Grateful Tour ’26 to Frost Bank Center in San Antonio on Sunday, September 20.

About The Red Clay Strays

What makes the trajectory of Brandon Coleman, Andrew Bishop, Drew Nix, Zach Rishel, and John Hall worth watching is that it has not followed the machine’s preferred route. The band built on live performance, on Americana radio, and on the kind of word-of-mouth that takes longer but sticks harder. Their second album, Made by These Moments (2024), was produced by Dave Cobb — a name that carries weight in roots music circles — and it was that record that brought the CMA recognition. The band also holds the 2024 Americana Music Awards Emerging Artist of the Year and three RIAA Platinum certifications to their name.

Grateful, their third studio album out June 5 on HBYCO Records/RCA Records, is also produced by Cobb. It is eleven tracks, opens with a gospel choir on “Demons In Your Choir,” and includes previously released cuts “People Hatin'” and “If I Didn’t Know You.” Coleman has described it as “a different sound… different-sounding album, genre-wise” — a statement worth holding onto as the band moves into the biggest rooms of their career. The Grateful Tour ’26 — their largest headline run — launched at Stagecoach in April and has already passed through Merriweather Post Pavilion, TD Garden, and Madison Square Garden before it reaches Texas. Support at the San Antonio date comes from Muscadine Bloodline and Sweet Talk.
