Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey presents The Greatest Show On Earth at NRG Stadium | August 6, 2026

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus shut its doors in 2017–146 years of sawdust, spotlights, and spectacle came to an end. The closure came quietly, not with the fanfare the tent once commanded: declining ticket sales, mounting costs, and a decade-long court battle over animal welfare had worn the institution down. Six years later, in September 2023, the circus came back–but not as the three-ring show America had known since 1871. This time, it’s human performers only: trapeze artists, acrobats, cyclists, contortionists. No animals. No apologies. And on August 6, Houston gets its second look at what Ringling Bros. looks like reinvented.

The New Greatest Show On Earth

The new Ringling Bros. is built around individual acts and the athletes behind them. The two-hour production features the Tic Tac Trio–Colombian and Spanish high-flyers who combine gymnastics, trampoline, and parkour on a teeterboard apparatus–performing a rare triple somersault, a move that only a handful of people in the world have attempted. The Flying Caceres trapeze troupe returns from the original circus lineage. Contortionist Jordan McKnight pushes the limits of the human body in ways that feel impossible until you’re watching it happen. You’ll see the Double Wheel of Destiny, bicycle stunts, Mongolian acrobats, Latin dancers, a 34.6-foot unicycle performer, and Bailey the Robo Pup–robots standing in where animal acts once dominated the center ring.

For Houston, there’s a Texas connection: country star Maddox Batson provides an adrenaline-charged musical mashup that threads through the show. A thirty-minute pre-show, courtesy of the Ringling Hype Crew and a DJ booth, sets the energy before the lights drop.

At NRG Stadium

NRG Stadium in Houston has hosted everything from football and monster trucks to conventions and concerts. On August 6, it transforms into a 360-degree curtainless stage for Ringling Bros.’ comeback tour. The show runs August 6–9, with the Thursday evening show at 7:00 PM followed by a full weekend schedule (Friday and Saturday at 11 a.m., 3 p.m., and 7 p.m.; Sunday at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.).

Get Tickets

Tickets are all-in pricing with no hidden fees–a deliberate move by the company to keep things transparent for families. Buy tickets on Ticketmaster. Group sales are available by calling 281-367-9717. This Houston run is the second the city has hosted since Ringling Bros. relaunched in 2023; the circus is making a full multi-state Texas tour this summer, with dates in San Antonio (Aug 13–16), Fort Worth (Aug 20–23), Dallas (Aug 27–30), and Edinburg (Sep 3–6).

The greatest show on earth is betting that people still want to see humans push themselves to the edge. Houston’s invited to the tent.
