The circus has been rolling through Texas for more than a century — tent stakes in the red dirt outside Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio, the whole state turning out to watch the trains pull in — and the institution that became Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey has outlasted every credible prediction of its end. It returns as the 148th Edition of The Greatest Show On Earth, opening at American Airlines Center in Dallas on Thursday, August 27, 2026, for a four-night run through August 30.
The Greatest Show On Earth — 148th Edition
When the production relaunched in 2023 it came back without live animals — a deliberate, permanent redesign — and rebuilt itself entirely around human performance. What remained, and what has held up across the road, is the spectacle that made the name: physical achievement of the kind that reminds you why these shows filled arenas before there was anything competing for attention.
The Flying Caceres anchor the aerial program with what the production describes as one of the most technically advanced flying trapeze acts in the world. Jordan McKnight brings contortion work that sits somewhere between athletics and theater. The Double Wheel of Destiny, a high-speed bicycle troupe, acrobats from Mongolia, and a Latin dance group round out a bill that runs close to two hours of performance. Bailey the Robo Pup handles the younger audience contingent. Woven through the show is an exclusive live musical collaboration with rising country artist Maddox Batson — billed as an adrenaline-charged mashup original to the live production — set against a pop playlist of current hits and original tracks.
Thirty minutes before showtime, the Ringling Hype Crew opens the pre-show: DJ-led, dance-forward, crowd-engaged, and included with admission. The Texas leg of the 2026 tour spans Houston (August 6–9), San Antonio (August 13–16), Fort Worth (August 20–23), Dallas (August 27–30), and Edinburg (September 3–6). The Dallas stand opens Thursday night at 7:00 PM, with additional performances Saturday and Sunday through August 30. The 2026 tour encompasses 157 total events across the United States.
