Martin Lawrence at Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land | June 5, 2026

More than three decades on from the premiere of Martin, the FOX sitcom that established him as one of the defining comedic voices of his generation, Martin Lawrence is back on the road with something to prove — or at least to confirm. The “Y’all Still Know What It Is! Tour” lands at Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land on Friday, June 5, 2026 at 8:00 PM, and the title of this run is about as direct a statement of intent as any comedian has put on a ticket stub in recent memory.

About Martin Lawrence

Lawrence came up through the New York club circuit — the Improv was where he found his earliest footing — before his appearance in Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing put him in front of a national audience. From there, the trajectory was steep and fast: he became the host of HBO’s Def Comedy Jam, the groundbreaking series that brought a generation of Black stand-up talent into mainstream visibility at a moment when network television showed little interest in doing the same work. He created and starred in Martin on FOX from 1992 through 1997, a show his own biography describes as “a cultural touchstone showcasing his physical comedy, sharp improvisation, and big, boisterous personas.”

The film work followed — House Party and Boomerang in the early years, then the Bad Boys franchise, Big Momma’s House, Blue Streak, Life, and National Security. Stand-up specials You So Crazy and Runteldat kept the stage work honest and on the record. He received the NAACP Image Award and, in 2023, earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

There are comedians who earn a Walk of Fame star and disappear quietly into retrospectives. Lawrence, evidently, is not one of them. This tour is the rebuttal.
