The album is called It’s A Dying Art. Little Big Town named it that for a reason. Grammy Award-winning and multi-platinum, the group made their twelfth studio record a deliberate argument for music built by human hands â the kind where imperfection stays in. They bring that record to the Majestic Theatre on October 29.
About the Show
Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Phillip Sweet, and Jimi Westbrook have shared a stage for more than 25 years. It’s A Dying Art releases August 28 via MCA and is the first album of original material from the group since Mr. Sun in 2022. Co-produced by two-time Grammy winner Gena Johnson and band member Fairchild, the record was built around intimate storytelling, emotional balladry, and standout collaborations with Ashley Monroe, Jason Isbell, and Kelsea Ballerini. The band’s stated intent was to lean into “imperfection, emotion, and lived experience” rather than smooth it out.
Two singles are out ahead of the August release. “Hey There Sunshine” debuted at the Academy of Country Music Awards. “Over and Over” picked up a “top-shelf post-breakup anthem” tag from Billboard. The band has also shared “The Door” and “Closing Time.”
The For The Art Of It Tour is a 26-city run across the U.S. and Canada, September 24 through November 22, played entirely in theater venues: rooms scaled for close listening, which is what this music asks for. Little Big Town has put four albums at No. 1 on the Billboard Country chart; Nightfall, released in 2020, was the most recent. This tour is their first on the road behind a full album of original material since then. The San Antonio date opens a three-night Texas stretch: Houston follows on October 30, Dallas on October 31.
Venue & Logistics
The Majestic Theatre is at 224 E. Houston St. in San Antonio, within walking distance of the River Walk and the Alamo. On-site bars serve snacks, wine, beer, and cocktails before and during the show. Doors open at 6:00 p.m.; the show starts at 7:30 p.m. The venue offers step-free access, wheelchair accommodation, and services for deaf and hard of hearing attendees.
