Lionel Richie at Frost Bank Center | July 28, 2026

The tour is called “Sing A Song All Night Long” — a nod to Lionel Richie’s signature hit “All Night Long (All Night)” — and it is, given the combined catalog of the two acts sharing this bill, an honest description of what San Antonio gets on Tuesday, July 28. Richie and Earth, Wind & Fire co-headline this 26-city North American run at Frost Bank Center, their second co-headlining tour together in three years. Showtime is 7:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30.

About Lionel Richie

Before Richie was the man who defined the soft-rock and soul crossover sound of the 1980s, he was the lead singer of The Commodores — nine albums with that group, built on the Black college circuit of the early ‘70s, before the ballads and the funk cuts found their way to the top of every chart that existed. He co-wrote “We Are the World” with Michael Jackson in 1985, a humanitarian undertaking that marked its own separate chapter in a career that was already remarkable. His solo work earned him an Oscar, a Golden Globe, four Grammy Awards, the MusiCares Person of the Year in 2016, and the Kennedy Center Honors in 2017. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022. Last September, his memoir Truly landed on the New York Times Bestseller list — the kind of career document that a tour like this one naturally follows. He has sold more than 125 million records worldwide, and has been a judge on ABC’s American Idol in recent seasons, a presence that speaks to both the length of a music career and the endurance of the music itself.

About Earth, Wind & Fire

Earth, Wind & Fire is the other half of this evening — co-headliner, equal billing, not supporting act. Maurice White founded the group in Chicago in 1969, and what he built resisted easy categorization: jazz phrasing, cosmic philosophy, funk architecture, a horn section that could cut through anything. The band charted eight number-one hits, sold more than 100 million albums across 22 releases, and earned nine Grammy Awards — including their 2012 Lifetime Achievement honor. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 and honored at the Kennedy Center in 2019. Maurice White passed away in 2016, but the band continues. Verdine White, the original bassist, is still on the road at 74. Philip Bailey and Ralph Johnson have both been members since 1972. That kind of continuity inside a touring band is its own achievement — more than fifty years of accumulated knowledge in service of a catalog that spans from “Shining Star” to “September” to “Boogie Wonderland.”

The “Sing A Song All Night Long” tour opens June 24 in Saint Paul and closes August 14 at Austin’s Moody Center. The Texas leg runs three dates in close succession: San Antonio on July 28, Dallas’s American Airlines Center on July 29, and the Austin finale on August 14. More San Antonio concerts →
