Leslie Odom, Jr. at Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land | November 28, 2026
There is something almost old-fashioned about Leslie Odom, Jr. — and I mean that as the highest compliment I know how to give. He belongs to a tradition of performers who move fluently between stage, screen, and recording studio, the kind of all-around entertainer the industry once took for granted and now produces in extraordinarily small numbers. He plays Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land on Saturday, November 28 — Thanksgiving night — as part of what the tour is calling The Christmas Tour 2026. That 2024 edition of this tour sold out in its entirety. Sugar Land should not wait.
About Leslie Odom, Jr.
Odom’s resume reads like an argument for what a career can be. He originated the role of Aaron Burr in Hamilton — the Pulitzer Prize-winning, record-breaking Broadway production that reshaped the conversation about what American musical theater could do — winning the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical and a Grammy Award for the cast recording. Nine years after that historic run ended, he returned to the role in September 2025 to record-breaking box office, a homecoming that said something about both the production and the man.
Film audiences know him best, perhaps, as Sam Cooke in Regina King’s One Night in Miami… — a portrayal that required a singer capable of channeling one of the most technically gifted voices in the history of American soul music, and one that earned multiple Academy Award nominations. He appeared as well in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, returned to Broadway in 2023 starring in Purlie Victorious: A Non-Confederate Romp Through the Cotton Patch (earning a Tony nomination), and has released six full-length albums, the most recent being An Offering: Live at Speakeasy Studios in October 2025. He is also a New York Times bestselling author — Failing Up (2018) and the children’s book I Love You More Than You’ll Ever Know (2023, debuting at No. 7 on the Times list) — with multiple Emmy nominations rounding out a career that refuses, with considerable grace, to stay in any single lane.
The Christmas Tour show is not simply a Broadway star working through holiday standards. The set blends jazz, soul, and musical theater — beloved holiday classics alongside original Christmas compositions and selections from Hamilton — delivered with what attendees at comparable tour stops have described as intimate storytelling and a message of peace and unity. It is the kind of evening that has the potential to be the best concert experience of a given year, if the room is quiet enough to let it breathe. VIP packages are available, including meet-and-greet opportunities, autographed photos, curated gifts, and commemorative laminates.
