There’s a comedy tradition that runs through the roast circuit and into the late-night back rooms of The Comedy Store on Sunset — fast, ruthless, built on the room’s willingness to wait out the silence before the laugh. Tony Hinchcliffe absorbed it starting at the bottom, working the door and answering phones at the Store before earning his way onto the stage. He launched Kill Tony on June 3, 2013, and it has aired every Monday night since without missing a week, growing from those Comedy Store roots to a weekly Austin residency at the Comedy Mothership and a national touring operation whose 2026 Texas Massacre run takes in Madison Square Garden, Dolby Live in Las Vegas, and a Saturday night in Sugar Land.

The Texas Massacre tour brings Kill Tony to Smart Financial Centre on Saturday, October 17, with Hinchcliffe hosting alongside longtime co-host Brian Redban. The format is the one that’s carried the show for thirteen years: hundreds of comedians put their names in the Bucket of Destiny before showtime, whoever gets drawn walks out and performs one minute of stand-up before the full crowd, then sits with Hinchcliffe for an interview. Organizers describe it as a “fast, unpredictable” show where “sharp roasts, surprise moments, and fearless crowd energy collide”; they also note the experience differs from night to night, which is what any show built around a bucket draw promises. What began as a kind of public workshop has become a weekly global institution, streaming on YouTube and other platforms to approximately 3 million downloads per episode. Guests across the show’s run have included Dr. Phil, Tony Hawk, and Post Malone. Hinchcliffe’s comedy is rooted in the insult tradition, an approach he’s described as “razor-sharp roast jokes, improvisational crowd work,” with an education that traces back to albums by Don Rickles, Dave Attell, and Jeff Ross and continued on the writing staff of Comedy Central Roast specials. Man of the People, his third Netflix special, released in 2026, following One Shot (Netflix, 2016) and Making Friends (YouTube, 2020).

Smart Financial Centre sits in Sugar Land, southwest of Houston, at 18111 Lexington Blvd. The 6,400-seat theater is one of the larger rooms on the Texas Massacre itinerary, considerably larger than the comedy club stages where Kill Tony got its start. Doors open at 6:00 p.m.; show runs to 10:00 p.m.
