Hatebreed bringing the Summer Slaughter Tour 2026 to Emo’s Austin on July 11 tells you a few things at once: the room is right for a package show, the 4:00 PM start is not a misprint, and there are five bands on the bill. That’s a full afternoon and evening of extreme metal. Plan the day around it.
The Connecticut metalcore institution has been running this mandate since 1994, and headlining Summer Slaughter in 2026 fits the template exactly — a curated extreme metal package, mid-size rooms, no concessions to the faint of heart. Weight of the False Self (2020, Nuclear Blast) was the last full-length, and the band went quiet on the recording front for nearly five years before “Make the Demons Obey” surfaced last July. A new album is confirmed for 2026. Guitarist Frank Novinec says it’s done; drummer Matt Byrne has called the material “way thrashier” and “the heaviest stuff we’ve written to date,” with “SLAYER-esque” elements worked in. Whether the record is out by July or still pending, this tour is clearly timed to that cycle, and the set list will probably be testing some of it.
The Austin date falls on the first leg of the run, with support from Devourment, Snuffed on Sight, Balmora, and Face Yourself. The undercard is not decorative. Arriving at the 4 PM door call is the correct move.
Emo’s Austin sits at 2015 E Riverside Dr. — Live Nation territory at this point, and the booking calendar reflects it. At 1,700 capacity it’s a workable room for a package like this: enough floor for the kind of pit Summer Slaughter earns, not so large that the energy disperses. Hatebreed’s name came from a Misfits track, and frontman Jamey Jasta spent four years hosting MTV’s Headbangers Ball. The band has been doing this for thirty-plus years out of Bridgeport and New Haven, and they play like a room this size still means something.
