Hamilton (Touring) at Majestic Theatre San Antonio | July 29, 2026

There is a July morning in 1804 that American history keeps returning to — Aaron Burr standing at ten paces in Weehawken, New Jersey, and Alexander Hamilton either aiming wide deliberately or simply missing — and for more than two hundred years the argument over that moment has not entirely resolved. Lin-Manuel Miranda turned it into the finale of a hip-hop Broadway musical, and on Wednesday, July 29, that show plays the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio as part of a two-week Texas engagement running July 28 through August 9. The North American tour arrives directly from a Fort Worth stand at Bass Performance Hall. If you have been waiting for it to reach your city, this is your window.

About Hamilton

Hamilton is Miranda’s adaptation of Ron Chernow’s acclaimed biography of Alexander Hamilton — immigrant origins, the Revolution, the Constitutional Convention, the Treasury, the Reynolds affair, and that morning in Weehawken. Miranda wrote the book, music, and lyrics, building the score from hip-hop, jazz, R&B, and traditional Broadway idiom, often within the same song, so that cabinet-room debates become rap battles and a secretary of the treasury sounds like the most dangerous man in any room. Thomas Kail directed. Andy Blankenbuehler choreographed. Alex Lacamoire provided musical supervision and orchestrations. The argument the show sparked when it opened — about what hip-hop can carry, what Broadway is allowed to be, who gets to tell the founding story — has not stopped running in the decade since.

The production holds 11 Tony Awards, along with Grammy and Olivier recognition, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and a special citation from the Kennedy Center Honors. Ben Brantley wrote in the New York Times that Hamilton might be worth mortgaging a house to attend — a line a critic commits to once in a career, if then. The show has been called “the greatest musical of the century.” It is now in its tenth year on Broadway while the North American touring production continues through 2027, with upcoming stops in Atlanta, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles. San Antonio is the current Texas engagement.

Runtime is 2 hours and 45 minutes, including one intermission.
