Flyleaf’s 20th Anniversary Tour cuts through Texas on back-to-back nights — Dallas on July 24, Houston on the 25th — and the Bayou Music Center date arrives with real stakes. This is the first headlining run since Lacey Sturm rejoined the band she helped build in Belton in 2002, and after three years of festival appearances, the question of whether the full reunion translates to a headline show gets answered at a 2,815-capacity room. That’s not a test balloon. That’s a statement booking.
About Flyleaf
Flyleaf went through a couple of names — Listen, then Passerby — before signing with Octone Records and releasing their self-titled debut on October 4, 2005. That record went platinum. “All Around Me” reached the Billboard Hot 100 Top 40 and earned 4x Platinum certification from the RIAA; “I’m So Sick” hit 2x Platinum; “Fully Alive” went Platinum. For a band from Central Texas playing post-grunge alt-rock in the mid-2000s, that’s a catalog that holds up in a room.
Sturm left in October 2012, one week before the band released New Horizons. Kristen May handled vocals from 2012 to 2016; when May departed, Flyleaf went on hiatus. The reunion announcement came in late 2022. By 2023, the reformed lineup was playing Sick New World, Louder Than Life, and Aftershock — heavy-hitting festival slots — and their first concert back together landed April 27, 2023, their first show as a unit in eleven years. No new studio album is officially attached to this run, but Interscope is releasing deluxe vinyl reissues of the debut and Memento Mori this summer, timed to the tour.
About Bayou Music Center
Bayou Music Center at 520 Texas Ave is a 2,815-capacity theater in downtown Houston — Live Nation’s mid-tier touring anchor for the city. It’s the right room for a band coming back to Texas on a legacy-forward run: big enough for the moment to feel like an event, not so large that it bets more than the reunion can cover.
