Earlybirds Club arrives at Emo’s Austin on Friday, June 26, and the booking itself is worth reading. The Austin chapter is run by Ambassador Mya (she/they), and resident DJ Helean holds down the decks — spinning pop, hip-hop, new wave, and R&B from the 80s through the 2000s. The format is built around women, trans, and non-binary folks who want to actually dance, in a room without weirdos, in shoes they can feel their feet in by the end of the night.
June 26 is a Decades Party. The structure is exact: six to seven, 80s big hair — Prince, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Journey. Seven to eight, the 90s — Spice Girls, TLC, Backstreet Boys. Eight to nine, the 2000s — Britney Spears, Beyoncé, OutKast, Missy Elliott, Usher. The final hour drops the format entirely: open floor, no rules, whatever the room demands at that point in the evening.
Ten percent of ticket proceeds go to The SAFE Alliance, an Austin nonprofit that serves survivors of child abuse, sexual assault, and exploitation.

Emo’s is at 2015 E Riverside Dr — the current 1,700-capacity version of a name that ran on Red River from 1992 to 2011 before the original location closed and the brand moved east. It’s a Live Nation room now, and the booking slate runs indie, rock, and hip-hop. A DJ dance party series landing here is a different kind of date for the calendar, which is the right call: Earlybirds needs a proper Austin club room, and 1,700 caps gives it enough density to make the floor work without spreading thin.
