Dying Fetus formed in 1991 in Upper Marlboro, Maryland; nine studio albums later, John Gallagher is still up front and not particularly interested in slowing down. When the co-headline run with Sanguisugabogg went on sale earlier this year, Gallagher laid out the bill himself: “Crowbar and Deterioration are legends in their own right, Sanguisugabogg are leading the new breed of extreme metal, and Left to Suffer are one of the hottest up-and-coming heavyweights — we are bringing all of it to 32 cities this fall, and we’re not holding anything back.”

Dying Fetus and Sanguisugabogg co-headline a 32-city North American run, September 17 in Philadelphia through October 24 in Richmond, with Crowbar, Left to Suffer, and Deterioration in support. Crowbar joins on most dates, Austin included. The Austin stop is October 15, one night before the tour moves to San Antonio’s Aztec Theatre on October 16. With five acts on the card and the show starting at 6:30 p.m., the supporting sets carry real weight.
Dying Fetus built their following in the metal underground across three decades, with Gallagher the sole constant member through the full run. Their albums Reign Supreme (2012) and Wrong One to Fuck With (2017) made the Billboard 200; Make Them Beg for Death, their ninth studio album, came out in 2023 on Relapse Records and is what this cycle is behind. The band blends brutal death metal, hardcore, and grindcore — a combination they’ve been sharpening since the 1996 debut Purification through Violence. Current lineup: Gallagher on vocals and guitar, Sean Beasley on bass, Trey Williams on drums.
Sanguisugabogg — the Columbus, Ohio quartet who call their sound “drug death metal” — formed in 2019 and arrived fast. Frontman Devin Swank’s first concert, at age 12, was Cannibal Corpse; they’ve been operating from inside the tradition they grew up on. Hideous Aftermath (Century Media, October 2025), their third album, was produced by Kurt Ballou, known for his work with High on Fire and Nails, with guest appearances from members of Full of Hell and Cattle Decapitation. Their sound is savagely downtuned and relentlessly grooved, with lyrics that take a tongue-in-cheek approach to the genre’s gore conventions.
