The Nada Solo Éxitos tour title does the work plainly: “Nothing But Hits.” Cristian Castro, returning to U.S. stages after more than six years away from major touring, has been accumulating the material for such a set list since 1992, when his debut album Agua Nueva earned a Grammy nomination and introduced a tenor that wouldn’t leave the top of the Latin charts for the better part of three decades.

Castro was born December 8, 1974 in Mexico City to a family already embedded in entertainment: his mother Verónica Castro an actress and singer, his father Manuel “El Loco” Valdés a comedian. He came to music as a professional rather than an accident. The debut album Agua Nueva (1992) earned a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Pop Performance and introduced him to Latin radio as a voice worth tracking. What followed was, by AllMusic’s accounting, more than thirty returns to the upper reaches of the Latin singles chart — a run of commercial consistency rare across any genre. The 2001 album Azul won Best Pop Album of the Year and placed its title track atop Latin radio; Un Segundo en el Tiempo produced the chart-topping single “Nunca Voy a Olvidarte”; and in 2005, “Amor Eterno” became Castro’s first Billboard Hot 100 entry, reaching number 78 despite its Spanish-language vocals. AllMusic describes his tenor as “smooth” and “airy,” disciplined across pop, traditional musics, and classical phrasing. His venue bio calls him “renowned for his expressive vocals across Latin pop, bolero, and mariachi genres.” Later work moved into mariachi on El Indomable (2007) and tribute records: Vive el Principe (2010) paid homage to José José; Mi Tributo a Juan Gabriel (2018) to Juan Gabriel. He has sold more than twelve million records and performs under the nickname El Gallito Feliz — The Happy Little Rooster.

The Sugar Land date sits within a multi-city U.S. run that includes earlier stops in San Jose (September 26) and a later date in San Diego (November 27). No opening act has been announced.
