Chelsea Wolfe at Emo’s Austin | October 17, 2026

Chelsea Wolfe’s ninth studio album assembles the kind of guest list you’d expect on someone else’s record — Robin Finck of Nine Inch Nails, Stella Mozgawa of Warpaint, Matt Chamberlain, Justin Meldal-Johnsen — and uses them to build something that still sounds unmistakably like her: layered, heavy, and lit from somewhere well below the surface. The Dark arrives on Loma Vista Recordings on August 21, with the physical release following September 18.

About the Show

Wolfe brings The Dark World Tour to Emo’s Austin on Saturday, October 17, with Swedish guitarist Jonathan Hultén opening. The North American leg launched in San Francisco in September, hit Seattle, Chicago, Boston, New York, Atlanta, and Dallas along the way, and closes at Los Angeles’ The Orpheum on October 23. A European stretch follows in November and December, with A.A. Williams handling support for those dates.

The Dark is her first album since 2024’s She Reaches Out to She Reaches Out to She, and it arrives with three singles already circulating: the title track (featuring Mozgawa and Meldal-Johnsen), “Death Is Not the End” (featuring Finck and Chamberlain), and “Cold,” which comes with a video directed by Magdalena Wosinska. The full record runs 10 tracks — “Seethe,” “Humours,” “Swallower,” “Halo,” “Dancer In The Sky,” and more — and Wolfe described its emotional core in one sentence: “The ghosts are haunted by the living just as much as the living are haunted by the ghosts.”

Sacramento-raised and recording since The Grime and the Glow in 2010, Wolfe has moved through gothic doom, acoustic Americana, noise-metal, and trip-hop across a catalog that draws on Nick Cave, Swans, and PJ Harvey as touchstones. She works frequently with producer and bandmate Ben Chisholm, and her collaborator choices here — Finck, Chamberlain, Mozgawa, Meldal-Johnsen — read like a shorthand for the kind of album she was after: heavy enough to mean it, with a spine of melody underneath. Hiss Spun in 2017 pushed the metal edge; Birth of Violence stripped it to Americana; She Reaches Out pulled in industrial and electronic textures. The Dark, with its 10-song shape, looks like another step in the same direction she’s always been pointing: further in.
