Buddy Guy at Majestic Theatre San Antonio | August 27, 2026

Buddy Guy turns 90 on July 30. Less than a month later, he’s at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio — 2,264 seats, a proper house for a proper occasion. The “Buddy Guy 90” tour is what it sounds like: a milestone birthday run, 30-plus dates across North America through September 18. The San Antonio stop lands on Thursday, August 27, doors at 6:30, show at 7:30 PM CT.

About Buddy Guy

The word “legend” gets handed out cheaply in music coverage. Here’s what the record actually shows: nine Grammy Awards, 37 Blues Music Awards, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015, induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Kennedy Center Honors, and the Presidential National Medal of Arts. That is not a resume you build by coasting.

Guy came up in Lettsworth, Louisiana before migrating to Chicago and planting himself in the West Side scene — a style he helped pioneer. The players who cite him as formative include Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Mayer, Eric Clapton, and Jimmy Page. Vaughan in particular was direct about the debt.

The most recent record, Ain’t Done with the Blues (2025), won Best Traditional Blues Album at the 68th Grammys this past February — his ninth Grammy overall and his fourth win in that category. Tom Hambridge produced; the guest list includes Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Joe Walsh, Peter Frampton, Joe Bonamassa, and The Blind Boys of Alabama. The album covers ground from Chicago shuffles to acoustic country blues to blues-rock. The title is the argument. He’s making it again on a stage this summer.

Worth noting: Guy appeared in Ryan Coogler’s 2025 film Sinners — the most visible pop-culture crossover of his late career, putting the West Side sound in front of an audience that may have come to him by a different route than Lettsworth or the Chicago club circuit.

No support act has been announced for the San Antonio date.

Majestic Theatre San Antonio

The Majestic Theatre San Antonio is at 224 E. Houston St. in downtown San Antonio, with a capacity of 2,264. It’s an A-list theater — the kind of room that fits a show of this weight without the event feeling either too intimate or underattended. A theater booking for a near-90-year-old inductee on a milestone tour is the right call. For venue information visit majesticempire.com.
