Bluey’s Big Play at Majestic Theatre San Antonio | December 6, 2026

There is a particular kind of Sunday afternoon that comes to every parent of small children — the one where the couch is soft, the room is finally quiet, and all you want is ten uninterrupted minutes before the day resets. Bandit Heeler knows this feeling precisely, and his daughters have opinions about it. Bluey’s Big Play, the touring theatrical adaptation of the Emmy Award-winning animated series, arrives at the Majestic Theatre San Antonio on Sunday, December 6, 2026 at 2:00 PM — and it is, by any honest measure, exactly the kind of live show that earns a place in a child’s first-memory bank.

About Bluey’s Big Play

What distinguishes this production from the usual licensed-property road show is where it came from. Joe Brumm — the creator of the television series itself — wrote an original story specifically for the stage. Joff Bush, who scores the animated series, composed new music exclusively for this production. Neither decision is a small one: the same creative minds who made the show what it is carried their work into a different room and built something new for it. This is not a clip-reel revue with branded signage. It is a proper theatrical production, crafted as such from the start.

The story finds the Heeler family on a Sunday afternoon — Dad (Bandit) settled into his bean bag, angling for a few minutes of peace. Bluey and her younger sister Bingo have other ideas, and they deploy every game and scheme available to them to lure him away from it. Any parent in the room will recognize the negotiation immediately. The running time is fifty minutes with no intermission, a deliberate choice for young theatergoers, and world-class puppeteers bring the full cast — Bluey, Bingo, Mum (Chilli), and Dad (Bandit) — to life on stage in full physical form.

The production is part of an extended US tour running through 2026 and into 2027, with stops that have included the Mahalia Jackson Theater in New Orleans and the Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco. The Sunday December 6 performance at the Majestic closes out the San Antonio run, which opens Friday evening, December 4.
