Afie Jurvanen has been running the Industrial Sport & Sound Tour since September, and he’s closing the entire fall leg on a Saturday night in Austin. Emo’s on November 21 is the last date. For a songwriter who writes about the quiet weight of staying still — fatherhood, home, ordinary days earning their keep — there’s something that fits about a road that ends here.
About Bahamas
Bahamas is the stage name and the working method both. Jurvanen came out of Toronto’s session world in the early 2000s, playing guitar alongside Feist, Kathleen Edwards, and The Weather Station before his solo name meant anything outside that circle. The records he’s made since — from Pink Strat through Barchords, Sad Hunk, and Earthtones — are guitar-centered, introspective, built on groove and voice rather than volume. Earthtones brought a Grammy nomination. Sad Hunk and Earthtones each earned him a JUNO Award for Adult Alternative Album of the Year.
The November run supports My Second Last Album, out since October 2025 on Brushfire Records and Republic Records. Jurvanen recorded it in a hand-built shed in rural Nova Scotia — the reverb is the room, not an engineer’s idea of the room. The tracklist runs from “Sauna” and “Country for the Town” through “The Bridge,” “Ready for a New Thing,” and “In Country.” Fatherhood, heritage, the texture of a life being lived rather than chased. The record earned his 10th JUNO nomination.
About Emo’s Austin
Emo’s Austin is a 1,700-capacity room on East Riverside, operated by Live Nation. The name goes back to a Houston punk club from 1989. The Austin version ran on Red River Street from 1992 before the current location opened in 2011 on the site of the old Back Room, which was Austin’s metal venue for years. The room has expanded its programming well past its punk-and-alt roots — it’s an official SXSW venue with an outdoor patio, and it gives a guitar-forward set the air it needs.
