& Juliet at Majestic Theatre San Antonio | July 11, 2026

Some of the biggest pop songs of the last quarter century — “Baby One More Time,” “Since U Been Gone,” “Roar,” “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” — were written or co-written by Max Martin, a songwriter and producer credited with more number-one hits than any other artist this century. That catalog has now been handed a second life inside a story older than recorded music itself. & Juliet, the Broadway touring production playing the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio July 7 through 12, imagines what happens after the ending Shakespeare refused to give Juliet — and it makes its case through a playlist most of the audience already knows by heart.

About & Juliet

The premise is economical and sharp: Juliet doesn’t die. She ditches the ending, leaves Verona, and starts over on her own terms — with her friends and her nurse, working through love, heartbreak, and independence in a story that’s equal parts romantic comedy and feminist reimagining. David West Read, who won an Emmy for his writing on Schitt’s Creek, wrote the book. Luke Sheppard directs. Jennifer Weber choreographed. Sets are by Soutra Gilmour; costumes by Paloma Young.

The show premiered on London’s West End in 2019 and opened on Broadway in 2022 at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, where it ran for over 1,250 performances before more than a million audience members. It received Tony Award nominations including Best Musical. The 2026 national tour has moved through Birmingham, Fayetteville, Milwaukee, and Chicago on its way south to San Antonio.

The San Antonio cast puts Fabiola Caraballo Quijada in the lead as Juliet, with CJ Eldred in the role of Shakespeare himself — who, in West Read’s telling, shares the stage with Anne Hathaway (Crystal Kellogg) as the two argue in real time over how the story should end. It’s a theatrical conceit that demands early buy-in from the audience, and the Broadway production’s run suggests most gave it willingly. Featured songs include “Since U Been Gone,” “Baby One More Time,” “Roar,” “Larger Than Life,” “Can’t Stop the Feeling!,” and “One More Time.” Runtime is approximately two hours and thirty minutes with one intermission.

About the Majestic Theatre

The Majestic Theatre opened in 1929, and the years have not diminished it. The room seats 2,264, carries a listing on the National Register of Historic Places, and holds the designation of National Historic Landmark — among the finest preserved atmospheric theaters in the country. For a production that calls for confetti cannons, pyrotechnics, and strobe lighting as core elements of the spectacle, a room of this scale and vintage is a natural home. The Majestic has served as San Antonio‘s premier Broadway touring house for decades; & Juliet is part of the 2025–26 Broadway in San Antonio series, operated by ATG Entertainment, at 224 E. Houston Street in downtown San Antonio.
