Amble plays Emo’s Austin on November 17, and this is the kind of headlining slot that earns a date on the calendar. The Irish folk trio spent most of 2025 opening for Hozier on arena stages and playing Austin City Limits. Now they’re running their own North American tour behind Reverie, headlining a 1,700-person room on the penultimate night of the run. That progression means something.
About Amble
The three of them — Robbie Cunningham, Ross McNerney, and Oisin McCaffrey — walked away from steady work in rural Western Ireland in late 2022: two schoolteachers and a data scientist who decided the music was too good to leave on a shelf. McNerney had said as much after their first sessions together. That kind of origin story either goes nowhere or goes fast. This one went fast.
Reverie, their debut on Warner Records, came out in May 2025 and landed at number one in Ireland — the biggest first-week sales the country logged that year. The production philosophy is straightforward: everything recorded live, usually in one or two takes, acoustic instrumentation, natural harmonies. “Basically, everything is recorded live,” Cunningham has said. “You can feel the energy when you get the right take.” It shows up in tracks like “Schoolyard Days” — acoustic guitar, three-part harmony, a lyric about nostalgia that earns its way toward acceptance — and in “Mariner Boy,” which strips a failed relationship down to its bones and still manages to stick with you.
All three of them write. All three of them sing. The harmonies here aren’t decoration; they’re the architecture.
