About This Venue

Settled by German farmers in the 1850s; bought in 1971 by 'Hondo' Crouch who declared the town 'a free state of mind' and crowned himself Mayor. Jerry Jeff Walker recorded ¡Viva Terlingua! live here in August 1973, and Waylon & Willie's 1977 #1 'Luckenbach, Texas' made the place permanent country mythology. Willie's Fourth of July Picnic 1995-1999. The dance hall (~1887), general store/bar, and outdoor stage under the oak tree are three distinct stages. 'Everybody's somebody in Luckenbach.'
