About This Venue

Opened 1979 inside the Texas Union. Country's premier listening room for folk and Americana — Townes Van Zandt, Lyle Lovett, Robert Earl Keen, Lucinda Williams, the Dixie Chicks, Nanci Griffith, Shawn Colvin, Guy Clark, Gillian Welch, and Alison Krauss built early careers here. Voted Austin's Best Acoustic Venue every year 2001-2011. KUTX (UT NPR) took over booking. 150-seat rigid capacity — every show is a hard ticket.
